PROGRAMS
Looking for opportunities to grow your practice, exhibit and sell artwork, or connect with other artists in the Triangle?
We’ve got opportunities all year long. For all the current calls for art, please visit our Current Calls for Art page or SlideRoom.
In addition to providing a variety of exhibition opportunities for local artists, the Guild also manages three core arts programs:
-
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
The Artist in Residence Program provides free professional studio space at Golden Belt in Durham lasting 6 months for one or more local artists each year. Resident Artists also receive a $1,000 stipend, regular support from and access to DAG’s professional resources and networks, and an exhibition in the DAG Gallery at Golden Belt at the end of the residency.

-
CREATIVE MENTORSHIP
The Creative Mentorship Program empowers high school students to discover and develop their creative voices and artistic skills through 20 weeks of dedicated work with a professional artist at Golden Belt, involvement with the local arts community through monthly group field trips and workshops, and a month-long exhibition in the DAG Gallery at Golden Belt.
Through this innovative arts education program, students and mentors work collaboratively to enhance their artistic strengths, express themselves creatively, and expand their creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
This program is an annual collaboration between Student U and DAG that began in 2013. Student U is a community organization that uses the power of education, advocacy, and leadership to build a just and equitable Durham. We empower and equip first-generation college students in Durham Public Schools, their families, and educators to become the leaders that will transform our city.

ART@WORK
The Art@Work Program connects local artists to local businesses for mutually beneficial opportunities. The primary goal of the program is to sell (or lease) local art to local businesses to be displayed in their offices and private or public buildings. In addition to directly supporting local artists and the arts community, Art@Work clients have the opportunity to visually reflect the aesthetic, brand and values of their business by selecting art from a wide variety of artists, styles and mediums. DAG can provide an array of consulting and professional services to meet different needs and different budgets.
If you have additional questions about the Art@Work Program, please contact our Curator and Gallery Manager, Dara Baldwin, at dara@durhamartguild.org.
